We Build New & Repair Existing Dune Walkovers & Beach Walkways in Myrtle Beach and Surrounding Coastal Areas in North Carolina & South Carolina

Dune Walkover allows you to crossover the dunes in Myrtle Beach

Look at almost any oceanfront home and you'll find a dune crossover & walkway from the home to the beach. At this time, it's not a requirement for oceanfront property. But dune crossovers, or elevated walkovers, provide safe and easy access to the beach and ocean, while protecting and helping build up the dunes.

In Myrtle Beach and surrounding coastal areas of North Carolina and South Carolina, these walkovers abound. Adding a dune walkover also allows access to nature as you’ve never experienced. Waterbridge Contractors of the Carolinas, LLC handles the entire scope of dune crossover and oceanfront beach walkway construction from design, permitting, construction, to completion.

A dune walkover may be constructed without a permit from DHEC-OCRM if it meets the following criteria (§48 39 290) & (S.C. Code Ann. Regulations 30-13(O)(1):

   • constructed of wood or Department-approved wood-like materials;

   • maximum width of 6 feet;

   • conform with the existing dune contours and maintain a 2 ft. vertical clearance as measured from the top of the dune to the top of the walkover;

   • displace no sand in the critical area;

   • constructed with as little environmental damage as possible;

   • not be located within fifty feet of another walkover on the same parcel of property;

   • be limited to no more than one of these structures per lot...;

   • be shore perpendicular, except as necessary for handicapped access;

Access this handy guide here from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) for South Carolina beach front property (see page 12 for the section on Dune Walkovers). You may find more information from DHEC under "Dune Walkover Structures" here.
